The Capsule Wardrobe
I've been using a capsule wardrobe for the past two years now and what I appreciate the most with having a capsule wardrobe is that it helps me stay away from unnecessary spending. This spring I needed to buy some new clothes and came to the conclusion that I needed three new tops. After I had written down a list of all the pieces that I will include in my capsule wardrobe for spring-summer I realized that I didn't need to buy more than one new top. We often tend to overestimate how many new things we need and forget what we already have.
Having a capsule wardrobe also makes getting dressed in the morning a lot easier and faster. I have so few pieces in my closet that I have a good sense of what goes with what. This year I have 33 pieces of clothing in my closet (not counting my workout clothes, underwear or bags). I include 26 pieces in my six month capsule wardrobe, which leaves 7 pieces out that are "resting" and waiting for the next season.
Coco gives an example of what a capsule wardrobe can look like in this video. Every person's capsule wardrobe will look very different since we all have our personal style and prefer different colors, patterns and styles etc.

Fall/Winter Capsule Wardrobe
If you've been reading my blog for awhile now you know that Minimalism is one of my passions. The reason I want to strive for a less materialistic lifestyle is that so many of my personal values don't go together with constantly buying new stuff. I want to have a green and sustainable lifestyle, support fairtrade whenever I can, and have money left over to spend on helping others. Minimalism is a lifestyle that can help me reach these goals.
This video is by one of my favorite minimalists on Youtube: "LightbyCoco". I find it really easy to be a minimalist in some areas of my life, like technology or beauty products, I've never been a big spender in these areas. The areas where I need to continue to downsize is fashion and home décor. If you want to develop a lifestyle where you spend less money on clothes I hope this video by Coco will inspire you. Have a great weekend!

I used to be one of those women who had a closet full of clothes but you would still hear me say "I've got nothing to wear!" I thought deciding to own less clothes would make me feel a bit deprived but surprisingly I haven't felt like that at all. I find it's very freeing to live with less stuff in general. My closet is very organized now that I have less clothes in it and I always have something nice to wear. I'm able to get ready in half the time that I used to spend on getting ready, since I no longer have to try on many different outfits.
My goal is to live with only 50 pieces of clothing, counting all my clothes, accessories, shoes and jackets but not counting my socks or lingerie. Today I stick to only seven different favorite accessories. I have two different pairs of shoes per season and two jackets per season. I have about 14 different pieces of clothing in my capsule wardrobe for each season. Some of my clothes I wear during more than one season. My two blazers for example I wear all four seasons of the year, the same goes for my workout clothes.
Having less clothes means I consume less and live greener, I save money and can afford higher quality pieces of clothing. I don't have to do a lot of laundry since I have so few pieces of clothing in my closet. My favorite thing about having a minimalist closet is the freedom it gives me in life. I want to live free!
